In my current role as Assistant Principal, I partner with the Principal to administer school operations, impact strategic planning processes, support fiscal management, build and develop a high-caliber staff, and create a challenging and supportive school culture. I also influence curriculum development activities, oversee instruction, enforce school policies, coordinate ELL and other academic programs as well as extracurricular activities, and handle disciplinary matters. Highlights of my contributions include:♦ Championing a successful turnaround for the school through the implementation of a Title I School Improvement Grant (SIG), remediating identified shortcomings within just three years.♦ Contributing to collaborative planning sessions as a member of the Operational Leadership Team (OLT) and the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), creating opportunities to enhanced teacher development and embracing Classroom Focused Instructional Protocol (CFIP) to assess student performance and instructional practices.♦ Actualizing a 20% increase in the school graduation rate through the integration of an Early College Program, a Fast Track Credit Recovery Program, and a 21st Century Learning Program.♦ Spearheading an initiative to increase avenues for collaborative student work to better integrate ELL students within the larger school community.♦ Assembling an attendance team to tackle the re-engagement of students with troubling attendance records.♦ Enhancing family and community engagement outcomes through improved communication and outreach activities.♦ Launching a new Youth Business Institute (YBI) program, creating a unique opportunity for students to develop business etiquette as well as competencies in financial literacy and marketing.
