Mental Health Support Worker
-
Oct 2022 - Present
As a mental health support worker in 24/7 supported living accommodation, I work with vulnerable adults who experience a range of mental health issues, including schizophrenia, personality disorders, and OCD. In this role, I provide essential support to individuals in a safe and supportive environment, using a person-centered approach to ensure that each client's unique needs are met. I work as a keyworker, building a trusting relationship with individuals and providing them with personalized support, including drawing up support plans and carrying out risk assessments. As a member of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC), I am committed to upholding professional standards in my work and ensuring that individuals receive high-quality care and support. I have a degree in psychology, which has provided me with a strong foundation in understanding mental health issues and the skills needed to support individuals with complex needs. Through my work, I have developed strong communication and interpersonal skills, which allow me to build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with other professionals involved in their care, such as social workers, healthcare professionals, and housing officers. I have developed a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with mental health issues, and I am committed to providing them with the support they need to live fulfilling and independent lives.
