Project Description:The objective of this project was to provided research, guidance and best practices towards the development of a policy/standard, guidelines and research protocol for the Bank of Canada Archives regarding the declassification of records and establishing a process to facilitate research of the Bank’s Archives.Tasks Performed:Review and understand the various Bank information and security policies which affect the sensitivity of recordsResearch other government organizations such as Library and Archives Canada and Directorate of Heritage and History (Department of National Defence) in regards to declassifying classified records and personal information. Contact / research other institutions including other international central bank archives to learn of their policies and best practices re: releasing sensitive information. Analyse the policy and best practices of the above research. Establish an archival decategorization/declassification policy and guidelines.Create the necessary forms and templates including form letters informing 3rd parties of their policy and requesting permission to release their records as indicated by their policy.Obtain Bank approval on all documents created prior to implementation of policy and procedures.
