    Joined Queensland Rail in Brisbane as Bridge labourer in 1974, worked in various gangs throughout the state till 1981 when i transferred to Toowoomba as Second class Bridge carpenter in (then) No 1 Mechanised Bridge gang. Qualified as 1st Class Bridge Carpenter and later as Bridge Inspector.Seconded to Rockhampton Training facility as trainer in Bridge and concrete courses. Qualified as Commercial Diver Lvl 2 and carried out underwater inspections and maintenance on structures throughout the state.
