Senior Mechanical Designer – Technical Group Headquarters
-
Oct 2005 - Present
Due to the work demonstrated on the systemisation of the technical demonstrator I was offered a role within a large design group working on the latest generation of products. This is with the new product introduction group within the technical group headquarters. My first role was with a small design team that were principally employed to create and develop a working solution to systemise the new generation vacuum pump product range. I was later promoted to senior designer and work as the senior designer on a number of complex mechanism and systemisation projects. My responsibilities include the following:Chassis, Enclosure, Gas and Cooling systems.Cast Interconnection spools and supports, including FEA work to ensure suitability.Sole responsibility for complex screw rotor design.Detailed machined parts.Bespoke EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) packaging design and full range of destructive tests. All of the above involve me working closely with external vendors and coordinating design resources from Korea and the Czech Republic.I have been Instrumental in the introduction of various cost and time saving initiatives for design and manufacturing processes.

Mechanical Designer – Non Standards
-
Jul 2003 - Oct 2005
I was given an opportunity to expand upon the design work that I had carried out as a manufacturing engineer and working closely with the project engineers, start designing the bespoke systems manufactured in our cell. This design work initally started with 2D AutoCAD, designing bespoke frames, gas systems and cooling systems for standard products to be able to implent them into non standard applications. I later underwent training in the use of the Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling system and at that point started my first solo project to fully systemise a concept product ready for a technical demonstrator to be produced. During this time I underwent training on Catia V5 which I later used to complete the project.
