Coordinated the work of the Mayor's Task Force to produce an integrated and comprehensive community economic development plan for physical and social renewal in the Sandtown-Winchester community in West Baltimore, using a grassroots approach. Residents developed a vision for neighborhood revitalization. This initiative received national and international attention in 1991, and in 1993 became a national model for urban revitalization. My work is featured in the book, Black Baltimore: A New Theory Of Community, by Professor Harold McDougall. This book discusses African-American communities in Baltimore and how residents in Sandtown-Winchester were empowered to effect positive social and physical changes for their communities.
