He worked directly with private sector partners on developing value chains that will provide sustainable economic development and quality of life improvements for community groups in rural Madagascar as part of the Securing and Protecting Investments and Capacities for Environmental Sustainability (SPICES) project with CRS. His work on SPICES partners with Conservation International to design and implement Conservation Agreements for communities in the COFAV corridor to provide incentive-based community support in exchange for contractual agreements to protect specific local natural resources.Dan also worked with the Mananjary Youth Empowerment Center (YEC) to set up and advance groups of youth in the areas of entrepreneurship, health, and education. Dan worked closely with the youth leaders to set and direct center programming.In both projects, Dan worked between the target groups, service providers, the head office in Antananarivo, and other counterparts, including the partner NGO's Center ValBio, Conservation International, and CNFA/Farmer-to-Farmer, to facilitate project efficiency and manage day-to-day operations of the SPICES and YEC projects in the field.
