      • Jan 1998 - Nov 2006

The first ten years of my career as a real estate agent occurred in Oxford, NC in a small town in a rural setting. The relocation to Myrtle Beach, SC and into a tourist oriented economy and housing market required major adjustments. The background as an educator gave me usable skills to adjust and self-educate with a goal of success in mind.My career began in 1988 and has included five franchise offices: Cenutry 21, ERA, RE/MAX (2 offices) and REALTY WORLD and now back to Century 21. Broker/Owner dropped the C21 and now the office is an independent.

      • Jul 1981 - Jun 1988

My education career spanned 18 years. Twelve of those years were as a teacher in the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina and in Oxford, North Carolina. The first ten years were spent in Horry County of South Carolina where I had the privilege to be involved with the development of the program for gifted and talented students in grades 4 through 8 and the development of a curriculum tailored to their needs and interest. Six years of my education career were in educational administration as assistant principal and principal at Mary Potter School in Oxford, North Carolina. The school housed 800 students, grades 6 through 8. The school staff consisted of 45 certified personnel/teachers and a staff of 20 non-certified employees. This career enhanced my oral and written communication skills and the skill to develop interpersonal relationships. My co-workers often say that they can see teacher/educator all over me as I deal with people and handle challenges.

    • Teacher
      • Sep 1969 - Aug 1981

My college education prepared me for a career as an educator. During those years in the classroom, I worked on two ends of the spectrum of innate abilities of students. While in Horry County of South Carolina, home of Myrtle Beach, I was chosen to teach in a program for students with ability, but not performing to capabilities. This was Project Succeed. During that adventure, I traveled throughout South Carolina in the summers and trained other teachers to teach these materials. A few years later, I was chosen to be the mathematics teacher in a group of four teachers to develop a curriculum for gifted and talented students in the same county. This developed teaming for a common goal among the teachers and the building of lesson concepts in a concrete sequential manner for others to learn and be motivated. Since this study was taught on an itinerate basis, I learned to prepare materials for my lessons that were easily transported and set up for the duration of the lesson.
