- CONTRIBUTIONS: • Utilized compositional analysis to evaluate and interpret materials systematic data from previous 0% to 67%. Conducted new approach of prediction and optimum of material synthesis and fabrication.• Improved the success rate of epoxy resin molding from 50% to 98% and develop new lubricant polishing techniques for polar solvents reactive materials to hurdle the surface roughness problem.• Contributed to phase equilibria studies on superconducting materials by successfully synthesized and analyzed 100+ of inorganic compounds. The samples were characterized by optical microscope, XRD, SEM/EDS and electron microprobe/WDS. - TEAMWORK & MANAGEMENT: • Collaborated with engineer of Deltec INC. to design furnace and decreased furnace maintenance frequency by 90%.• Led 11 interns to accomplish three research and development projects in 2-12 months and handled multiple tasks in parallel.- PUBLICATION & PRESENTATION: • C. Hou, J. Meen, “Range in Cation Ratio of YBa2Cu3O7-x Crystallized from Liquids”, IEEE Transaction Applied Superconductivity and poster session at Applied Superconductivity Conference in USA.• Lectured and conducted undergraduate General Chemistry Lab course for 120+ students and improved their lab skills.

• Applied knowledge of organic synthetic chemistry to synthesized silver nanoparticles by using wet chemical methods. The particles were measured with UV/VIS for studying response of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) spectra. • Developed the ability to use laboratory equipment and procedures of GC and UV/VIS for analyzing material properties.• Designed electronic components of the sensor for quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). QCM was used for monitoring the rate of deposition in thin film deposition.
