From advertorial requests to local business news, the content is very varied – and therefore I regularly exercise flexibility, creativity and my ability to learn new things quickly and effectively. I also write my own monthly opinion column, and my own expert column on technology, gaming and gadgets.

    My role involved many things, including project management, liaising with clients, copywriting, conducting interviews, brainstorming, account management and supporting colleagues in house. The role showcased my talents as a writer, project manager, and my ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure. Although I originally started the role with a view to simply support with admin and small jobs, I expanded my duties upon demonstration of my copywriting abilities and went into project management and larger projects.

    As a General Manager I maximised my day by spending time with my team on the shop floor, setting fun and productive challenges that develop consultants to become the best they can be, whilst maintaining a fun and balanced atmosphere. I always took pride in putting my team first, ensuring that they were happy and healthy at work and providing the necessary environment in store for them to perform to their best abilities. Since being promoted to a seconded position as a Branch Manager in a small store in August I passed and become permanent, moving on to another secondment as General Manager of a much larger store. My store was crowned Store of the Month - an achievement not seen in that store for some years.

    I left a well-paid and full-time role at Vodafone for a bit of a chance on a new position in Carphone Warehouse. With an ambition to grow my career into the higher ranks, I saw more opportunity and chose to change companies. After working there for four months, I nominated myself for 'Shop Idol', in a bid to prove myself as the UK's best mobile phone salesperson. After many months of challenging tasks, mystery shops and quizzes, I was crowned the winner in June 2015 and my career skyrocketed.Aside from 'Shop Idol' my achievements as a consultant include:- Winning an all-expenses paid trip to New York as part of a sales incentive- Winning a 32" flat-screen TV as part of a sales incentive- Becoming one of the top four consultants for product knowledge in the company to represent Carphone Warehouse in isellmobile.co.uk's 'Product Mastermind' competition in 2014

    The area management team created the role of Senior Sales Associate for me upon transferring back to York as the store was too small for an Assistant Manager role. As well as exceeding sales targets and exceptional customer service, I assisted the manager in coaching and developing the team, managing back office errands, booking in deliveries, providing technical support, attending meetings if necessary and supporting the other store in the town.I felt that progression was quite difficult in this area as it was made clear that not many people became promoted past Senior Sales. When the SM of Carphone Warehouse offered me a new and exciting opportunity, I decided to take it and see how my career would expand in a new segment of the industry.

    I was given the opportunity to step up to an Acting AM role following the loss of the existing AM after exceeding expectations at an invite-only development programme and going above and beyond in my job role as BA. I assisted the DM and SM in coaching and developing a team of 20 as well as all of my roles as Senior Sales. I would have stayed on as permanent AM, however personal circumstances required me to move back to my hometown of York and I had to transfer.

    My first ever full time job and a wonderfully challenging one at that! My team consisted of 20 members of staff - sales advisers and technical advisers alike. My role specialised in working with small businesses and included going above and beyond. Occasionally I would even go to their offices to set up their new products. Having an excellent ability to build and retain rapport was vital in this role and I consistently achieved targets, resulting in promotion to Acting Assistant Manager after I won Business Adviser of the Year in 2013.

    I was snapped up by one of the editors of the newspaper after giving him a session on the Samsung Galaxy SII in Vodafone. I had my own technology column in the newspaper’s entertainment segment, which was a full page. I reviewed games – old and new – and voiced my own opinions on the industry. Each one of my articles to date received a 5-star review from the readers. I left this job to move back to York.
