As part of the Senior Leadership Team I am involved in a wide range of strategic planning as we work to create a future-focused innovative approach to secondary education. As well as working at HPSS I also enjoy working with a wide range of agencies such as NZTC, NZQA, PPTA, NetSafe and the 21st Century Learning Reference Group with a focus on enabling future-focused change and supporting teachers and students in blended learning environments.

As a Director of E-learning I worked alongside school leaders and teachers to inquire into their practice to strengthen their e-learning capability to improve learning outcomes for all students. I was responsible for the school wide leadership of e-learning and ICT professional development. In this role I was responsible for leading the $360,000 Ministry of Education ICTPD contract. I also worked closely with the senior leadership team in the planning of professional development, resourcing and strategic planning. During my time at Epsom Girls Grammar School I was also involved in a range of national projects and research for IFTE (International Federation of Teachers of English), Cognition Consulting, NZCER, Core Education, NZTA and the PPTA.

ICTs in English Forum Facilitator for English Online

In this position I was responsible for the facilitation of the English Online ICTs forum, which is subscribed to by over 600 teachers from across the country. In this role I provided encouragement, support and guidance around the use of ICTs in and beyond the English classroom.

In this position I was responsible for on-going professional development, running clusters and providing in-depth support for the Auckland Secondary English community. In this role there was a particular focus on raising Maori and Pasifika achievement as well as focusing on supporting middle leaders in the successful implementation of the NZC and introduction of the newly aligned NCEA achievement standards. In my time at Team Solutions I developed a range of resources and strategies for leaders and teachers using teaching as inquiry to improve outcomes for students. I also continued to work on the realignment of NCEA English Standards and the development of English Teaching and Learning Guidelines.

Whilst at Auckland Girls Grammar School I taught English at all levels (Years 9-13). I was responsible for leading a department of 18 teachers, and oversaw the running of 20 different English courses (53 ESOL and English classes in total). This role includes direct responsibility for the appraisal of all English staff, as well as overseeing course planning, assessment, moderation and budgeting for the department. I have also led the department in a range of professional development activities and also oversaw the plans for implementation of the new curriculum in 2010.Whilst at AGGS I was awarded a Ministry of Education e-fellowship and was part of the national writing party for realignment of NCEA English Standards (levels 1-3).
