    My last few years at BRC were "interesting." I lobbied to become the Director of Design, trying to grow with little growth opportunity available. I loved doing project work, and now I thought I would be working and supporting all projects as a mentor and adviser. Unfortunately, the economy had slowed to a crawl, so the few jobs coming in were small, and budgets were incredibly tight. I saw that I was an unwelcome burden on the shows. Had I been a project manager or art director working with such limited resources, I, too, would have avoided the Director of Design wherever possible. I circled for a while, seeing that there wasn't a place for me at BRC anymore, and we all knew it. I had worked there for 26 years. One day during a round of layoffs, they let me go.
