Completed the conversion of written element occurrence records of federally endangered species to the present digital format. Launched this initiative under the direction of the Staff Botanist through the use of ArcView 9.0 Geographic Information System (GIS) software to increase the preservation of ecologically sensitive lands. The project scope revolved around the 17 federally listed endangered plant species endemic to North Carolina’s mountains, piedmont region and coastal areas. Built 17 final project management GIS maps delineated for each endangered species, and created subsequent land acquisition funded through the State of North Carolina’s estimated $12,000,000 annual conservation fund, federally funded grants from both the United States Department of Agriculture, United States Forest Service and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
