Dealing with complaints was a sensitive matter that sometimes required difficult compromises that have to be delivered carefully to the guests. This experience was of significant benefit to my communication skills.

    My internship at Pelican Worldwide submerged me into the world of corporate investigations and intelligence, teaching me important lessons about an area I had previously had little exposure to. On a day to day basis I was responsible for gathering intelligence for clients and compiling this into concise reports to help them make informed decisions and avoid potential reputational or regulatory issues. This was highly rewarding and it was fantastic to have such positive feedback on the cases I worked on.

    A week of work experience in London at Rothschild & Co. Over the course of the week we received numerous lectures on the different aspects of banking, from merchant to investment banking. I was also put into a team to research and deliver a presentation on a target company to one of the investment teams. I had to bond quickly with my team mates and it was fantastic to receive constructive feedback.

    A one week sailing trip to the Channel Islands with local youth offenders. Over the course of the week I had to quickly bond with those on the ship and learn to communicate and cooperate quickly as a team under highly challenging circumstances with individuals who did not necessarily want to be there. It was the most eye opening experience for me and I feel my communication skills benefitted immeasurable amounts from the trip. What a week!
