I was trusted to have my own classroom and Students 16+ with mild to severe Learning Disadvantages; I had my own Classroom assistant to manage. I developed an Adult curriculum in Road Safety and invited Bolton MBC Road Safety Officers into the College to help escorting and training the students around the Town Centre creating awareness of Road Safety in the Community when independently travelling. I taught Horticulture which was not my area however I created a Butterfly Garden and the students were involved from estimating and creating the Garden for the Headteacher. We visited the Butterfly Centre in Bolton and I taught them the life Cycle of the Butterfly when the weather was too bad to work on the Garden, reading, writing, communicating with staff was expected of all students who worked within the garden, emailing quotes for the creation of the garden to the Headteacher. We visited garden centres and compared prices, so the unit provided all the necessary techniques for working in the Community. I also taught basic numeracy and literacy; Adding to these comments, I held 1-1 tuition and nurturing for students every Monday, to alleviate any barriers to learning. The Garden is still used on Open Days not as a Butterfly Garden, but it is still reigning within the school...
