(Formerly Claremont Preparatory School from 2005-2011, Léman acquired Claremont in April, 2011)Lower School (K-4th):As the founding woodworking teacher, I designed a curriculum (K-4) centered on safety, artistic expression, personal accomplishment, understanding of technical processes, and development of independent tool usage. Projects included boxes, furniture, sculpture, toys, vehicles, machines, animated figures, and instruments. Personal accomplishment and lasting ownership were promoted through group discussions.Middle School Curriculum (5th-8th) Expanded upon the conceptual and technical skills previously learned, while increasing expectations of community: respecting peers, working cooperatively, and helping others. Projects were inspired by contemporary artists and exhibitions, as well as independently designed utilitarian pieces and decorative works. Projects included sculptures, wood-collage and assemblages, woodcarvings, and furniture. Additional ResponsibilitiesEquip and maintain the school woodshop with age-appropriate safety measures, tools, and materials. Install public displays throughout the school and work with colleagues to design the annual school-wide exhibition. Photograph and document examples of student work. Place purchase orders and meet budgetary guidelines.Additional Work & ContributionsFaculty Diversity Committee (2010-2012), assisted Second Grade and Kindergarten classes (2008) and Physical Education (2005-2006), contributed a positive role within school community; was a member of a faculty rock band, offered special Woodworking activities as school fundraising auction prizes.

-
2005 - 2012
(Formerly Claremont Preparatory School from 2005-2011, Léman acquired Claremont in April, 2011)Instructed weekly, multiple sections of Woodworking classes within the afterschool program.
