    As the Community Services Unit Supervisor, I was the liaison for neighborhood groups in Garner. I conducted safety talks and presentations for various groups in town. I also supervised the School Resource Officer (SRO) Unit, Animal Control Officer, and the Services Officers - a position that I created. I also created the Citizens and Police Together (CAPT) volunteer organization in 2015.

    I supervised a Patrol Division squad/platoon of 6-8 officers. My teams regularly excelled with self initiated activity, such as vehicle stops, DWI arrests, and community interactions. We took pride in showing up to work everyday and making a difference in the community.

    As a patrol officer, I was proficient in traffic safety and enforcement. I became a drug recognition expert (DRE) and I was regularly among the leaders of the agency in vehicle stops and impaired driving arrests. I also worked to build relationships, many of which continue to this day.

    The Garner Police Athletic/Activities League PAAL is a youth crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth. It is based on the conviction that young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship. Garner PAAL brings youth under the supervision and positive influence of a law enforcement agency and expands public awareness about the role of a police officer and the reinforcement of the responsible values and attitudes instilled in young people by their parents.
