The Scottish Refugee Council is the Scottish hub for the dispersal of asylum seekers and refugees across Scotland. It is an independent charity, working to ensure refugees are treated fairly, with respect and dignity, and to ensure they have all the help and support they need when going through the asylum seeking process. My role there is working behind the scenes with the Refugee Employment and Integration Service, the department that helps refugees resettle in the Scottish community once they have achieved status in the UK. This involves help with training and employment opportunities, finding and maintaining housing, schooling, and general support tailor to the individual needs.
