I worked as a research scientist assistant in Mexico with the animal conservation charity Operation Wallacea. Firstly, in the Mayan jungle, I completed biodiversity surveys and used a range of equipment, such as mist nets for bats and birds. Secondly, on the marine research site in Akumal, I monitored wild turtle nesting sites, ensuring their safety from the public and minimising disturbance. While scuba diving, I used quadrats to record the abundance of organisms along a reef transect. This involved animal handling of turtles, birds, bats and herpetofauna.
