    • Worship and Media Arts Director
      • May 2012 - Mar 2017
      • Evans, GA, USA

In the 5 years at In Focus I developed the teams by finding new talent and pulling people into areas of graphic design, web design, video production, stage design and the music teams. Working with volunteers is challenging because you have to lead to the “heart” of people and even see potential where no developed skills are evident, but empowering and developing people is a very rewarding process for me.  Aside from doing a lot of the design and production myself I worked hard to incorporate planning structures, project management apps and communication systems to deal with the growing workload and constant deadlines. I started out in a position where I was doing everything and at the end, I was doing what I loved the most, video production and music because I had grown the teams in all other areas and set more leaders in place. This allowed more focus in each team who then had the capacity to handle the growing workload more efficiently.

  • Every Nation Church Somerset West
    • Somerset West Area, South Africa
    • Worship and Media Arts Director
      • Jan 2008 - Apr 2012
      • Somerset West Area, South Africa

At Every Nation Somerset West it was the first time I started moving into realizing my true passion for music and creating visual content, especially video. Aside from my weekly tasks of leading church worship, songwriting, graphic design, photography, video production, web design and stage design, I had exhilarating opportunities to pioneer projects in music and film for the church.  I co-founded the church’s Wholehearted Worship Band which was nominated for a South African Music Award in 2011. In this process I co-wrote the title song, collaborated on the album designs and marketing material. I also helped to develop the concept for the music video and co-produced it. With my vision and energy we took the church’s music team to national recognition. I was also commissioned in 2011 to produce the A Call To India documentary which received recognition at The Attic Film Festival (US) and the ICVM Crown Awards (US).  Awards for the A Call To India documentary:The Attic Film Festival2012 Great Commission Award2012 Best CinematographyICVM Crown Awards2012 Best Documentary Under $50 000 Bronze Award

  • Thembalitsha Foundation
    • Western Cape, South Africa
    • Website Manager, Graphic Designer and IT Manager
      • Mar 2008 - May 2010
      • Western Cape, South Africa

From 2008 to 2010 I worked for both Every Nation Somerset West, giving them equal time after which I transitioned in a full-time position at Every Nation. When I joined Thembalitsha they were experiencing unprecedented growth with few systems in place to support that growth. Apart from building their website to communicate their multiple outputs as a non-profit more simply I was asked to set up small IT networks at four projects. Although my IT knowledge was on layman’s level I had to quickly familiarize myself enough with networks to setup fairly efficient and much needed networks. This improved their in-house communications, data and document transfers.Thembalitsha also had no real visual communication strategies. Through photography and graphic design I developed their visual assets for online and printed marketing. I actively pushed for their rebranding which was eventually given priority. The new logo improved their professional look made their communication more believable.I also organized the chaos and non-management of one of their projects’ finances which involved sorting almost a year’s receipts and communication from debtors into an accessible filing system and managed it. I am still actively involved with Thembalitsha and had the opportunity recently to produce a promo video for the organization.

I redesigned the website for Stellenbosch Congregation by upgrading the backend content management system and updated its look and feel to incorporate more engagement from the church members. I decluttered all of the information they desired to communicate to only what was essential and designed more pleasing graphics elements which made the website more accessible and in turn improved traffic to the site.
