Clinical Nurse II & Team Lead, Intermediate/Intensive Care Biocontainment Unit, UMMC Apr - Jul 2020Outline: 16 bed unit functioning as a 32 bed IMC/ICU with patients who tested positive for COVID-19 requiring continuous monitoring secondary to critical respiratory status and/or secondary diagnosis. -Provided care to patients with acute to critical medical needs with a COVID-19 diagnosis (i.e. poor respiratory status requiring management of endotracheal tubes, tracheostomies, vents, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, CPAP and/or hemodynamically unstable patients through vasoactive and sedative drips).-Functioned in high nurse to patient ratios as a team lead by precepting and orienting staff to team time management, continuity of care, and patient and nurse safety procedures to decrease risk of exposure.
