One of my main goals as a 5th grade teacher is to instill the love and desire in my students to read and write. You must read, read, read. Then you must write, write, write. Journal writing is a daily assignment in 5th grade. After their current class assignment is completed, the students may pull a stick from the "I'm Done!" jar and complete the orders on the stick. They are wanting more assignments! Awesome!

An annual assignment with our principal while I was teaching Kindergarten was to put on a production toward the close of the school year. My co-worker and I ordered costumes for us from a big company in Tulsa, OK. We also did all the set design. Parents sewed the children's costumes. One year we did a jungle theme; another was a patriotic theme; another was a cartoon theme. Our productions grew in size each year. So much fun!
