    From September 1974 to December 1978 I was self-employed as a custom dressmaker in Medfield, MA. This was an outgrowth of a business I had started in Pennsylvania in 1971 in which I had created various one-of-a kind reversible garments for men, women, and children. I marketed some of these to several boutiques in the greater Philadelphia area, including reversible neckwear to "Toys for Men" in Lahaska, PA. A time & labor intensive business---yet fun & satisfying, too.

    I was hired to replace the former German teacher whose contract was not renewed after his first year with the district. I received excellent evaluations by my principal, Mr Seth Beimuller, who was greatly disappointed when I retired in my seventh month of pregnancy. I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching experience and would have otherwise continued to teach indefinitely.
