    I developed this business from the ground up and ran it with my partner for three and a half years. I ordered, entered into a point of sale system and displayed the inventory. I discussed advertising with salesmen. I worked with our customers to help complete their projects, and conducted classes, in which new techniques were taught. I used the POS system regularly including balancing the cash drawer daily. Cleaning and organizing the store to keep it fresh and updated was a must, including developing samples to help display new products. I used office equipment such as the point of sale system, computer and programs such as Microsoft Word, and Publisher and also a printer and die cutter. I was told after we sold the store that we made our customers feel at very home and they missed our cheerful attitudes and helpfulness.

    I worked mainly in the graphic design department, but also at the front counter to help customers directly and also helped in the bindery department. As a graphic artist I worked closely with the customers to develop the projects to their specifications. I worked on a Macintosh computer with Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop as my main design programs. I also worked on a PC in the program Publisher when customers supplied files of their own. When I worked up front at the counter, I helped the customers with black and white and color copies on a variety of copiers, and took orders that would be worked on later by the designers. Working in bindery helped me become a better designer after I learned what kind of projects were easier to finish up if I designed them. I learned to run the large format cutter, comb and spiral binder, collator and the mailing machine.
