I set up my first Practice in 1997 as Kirk Associates. I very quickly sought assistance and we started to expand. Leven Valley Campus was where the first office opened. We were designing residential projects for the domestic market and developed a specialty for Health & Leisure facilities working with Forza, Precor, Inspirit and Technogym. So I was back on the flight paths and motorways working across the uk and Ireland. We won Dunbartonshire Enterprise "Best Professional Service Award in 1999. The practise expanded to a max of 7 in various guises, working on housing developments, leisure centres, industrial and commercial works. 16 years later, we are now a practice of two working in Alexandria on a porfolio of projects mainly in the residential sector. Keeping busy assisting our clients on a variety of projects and scale of works from the very small to the larger developments involving phased master planning. If you want to know more about us look at the web site "kirkarchitects.com". I'm always interested in hearing my clients ideas and look forward to making them a reality.

Interior Design Practice specialising in themed pubs, clubs and hotels. Staff of 15 including admin, directors and designers. I was brought in to deal with Building Warrants, contruction issues, site surveys and progress meetings. This was the busiest two years of my life! Travelling across the uk every week visiting sites, attending Brewery seminars, and presenting schemes to clients. A Fun time. Worked hard and played harder! Brands that I worked on included, O'Neils Pubs, Funky Forrest in Aberdeen, Scruffy Murphys across the uk, Hilton Hotels, McDonald Hotels & Marriot Hotels.A very busy practice with a great team. I left when my first child was born and set up my own practice.

Worked with John Russell and Roy Wilson. When I joined the practice they required and architect to detail out the Lancefield Quay project where the waverley was berthed. This was a fabulous project where I had the benefit of site experience on a regular basis. Durring that time we introduced Autocad to the Practice and I was trained up initially before two cad technicians were appointed. Hampden Park Stadium was the main project in the office and I was assisting that team with fit out design for the North stand and the catering kiosks on the East & West Stands. Roy Wilson was the architect to Queens Park and the SFA. I worked with him on several projects with David Oats - Senior Architect. I qualified whilst at Thompson McCrea and owe a dept of gratitude to them in assiting with my education and drive for perfection.

The practice was deeply involved with urban regeneration and had Landscape Architects in-house. They were involved with several gardens at the Glasgow Garden Festival. I worked with a team of Architects designing housing for Barratts, minor works on my own including bank refurbishments including interior design.

Albert was working on his own and had previously been with the Housing Corporation. We worked together on Housing Association refurbishments and industrial projects. The company grew to 6. I was now at Art School studying Architecture for my B Arch Degree on a part time basis while running the drawing office for the various projects we had on the go. With the growth of the practice and additional travelling / studying + marriage, I looked for a practice in Glasgow and moved on. The years with Albert were very fullfilling with regards to project management and contract administration, however I was needing a more design orientated studio to enhance my knowledge of Architecture with a capital "A". James Cunning Young in St Vincent Place were expanding so I joined them.

Joined the practice and was placed in a 15 person team working on a Hospital in Staines, Middlesex. My role was to stencil room data sheets. No chance to see the site, work on any other project or be involved in my own projects. Mistake to move from HJR. so I left!!
