Recently I have been afforded the opportunity to take on the role of Building Superintendent. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager and Project Manager, I am responsible for leading the supervision team in the scheduling, forecasting and procurement of materials and contractors on site. All Site Supervisors, Workforce and Subcontractors report to the Building SuperintendentI attend all client meetings, and assist the Project Manager with all pricing works and variations, as well as cost control and budget forecasting. Ultimately my key responsibility is to lead the workforce, ensuring the efficient and effective utilisation of resources, including other supervisors and wages workforce in accordance with the company operations procedures which include safety, environmental and quality standards.

Installation of buildings to accommodate 900 people including Ablution Facilities, Central Dining Facility, Kitchen, Gatehouse, Interview Facility, and Medical and Mental health Centre.Early works for the project include installation of fly camp, miscellaneous civil works, in-ground services and installation of buildings for Nauru Processing Centre.Reporting directly to the Construction Manager and Project Manager, I am responsible and accountable for all scope of works and variations, budget and maintaining schedule on tight time frames. Within the project we have had multiple site’s running at the one time. RO plants, 180 man staff village, National Operational Processing Centres (NOPC1, NOPC2, NOPC3). I have supervised all works across all sites leading a team of install supervisors, leading hands and up to 80 trade staff. As Senior Install Supervisor my duties include:• Assisting in the detailed planning and organising of the project resources• Establishing scope of work instructions for field personnel• Estimate, Order and Supply of materials, taking into account remote time frames• Reviewing work and recognizing performance• Conducting daily pre-starts and close-out meetings• Assisting the Project Manager in identifying and resolving any design, construct-ability or documentation issues.• Ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with environmental, industrial relations, occupational health and safety and quality standards.• Liaising and managing trades and sub-contractors on site.• Assisting the Project Manager with site cost management and identifying cost reduction opportunities• Preparing and reviewing procurement schedules and communicating with subcontractors and safety officers.• Performing site audits and promoting total job safety and environmental awareness.• Maintaining records for causes for extra works, daily events and progress works and subcontractor requests for information and clarifications.

I worked for Bruindam on the Marandoo expansion project for Rio Tinto building camp accommodation. As this was a remote site we installed all services for the fly camp including water treatment plant, power and sewage plants. As a carpenter I performed many tasks from setting out buildings, landing and complexing buildings, 2nd fix carpentry, concreting, formwork, plastering and painting. I also supervised TA’s and other trades in accordance with work schedules. My role was to ensure all work was completed according to appropriate building standards and within the appropriate timeframe.
