At HOPE House we help 100's of people every week with their needs for food, clothing, haircuts, and for finding their way through the maze of social services. Our goal is to work with the under-privileged to build a community where they will feel welcomed and respected and where they can contribute out of the strengths that they bring. We receive gifts-in-kind from individuals, families, service organizations, churches, from surplus food warehouses and from corporations. We share out these donations to individuals who come to HOPE House, and to other emergency food and clothing providers in Guelph. I also support the Circles program as Assistant Coach. Circles® Guelph Wellington is a community based partnership that is committed to specific and positive actions to reduce the number of families dealing with poverty in our community.

HOPE House has staff whose main task is to procur and provide handouts in the form of free food, free clothing, free meals, haircuts, etc. There are also staff who provides a handup in the form of the Circles Program, and EduKitchen. Both of these latter programs are educational and aimed at developing self-reliance in the participants. These programs are supported by staff who co-ordinate volunteers, fundraising and special events. I also support the Circles program as Assistant Coach. Circles® Guelph Wellington is a community based partnership that is committed to specific and positive actions to reduce the number of families dealing with poverty in our community.

The Food Market at Lakeside Hope House supports people with emergency food needs by procuring and distributing 20,000 pounds of groceries per month. We buy in bulk when we have to, but we much prefer to accept donations from private individuals and from food drives, and to find surplus from the food industry. We especially seek out fresh produce for balanced nutrition. We work with other emergency food providers to find and share resources when possible. We also meet with government and poverty groups to address food security from a system perspective.I also support the Circles program as Assistant Coach. Circles® Guelph Wellington is a community based partnership that is committed to specific and positive actions to reduce the number of families dealing with poverty in our community.
