    The Institute of Event Management aims to provide the UK meetings and events industry with a body for professional recognition and continuing professional development. In 2013 with support of the Sector Skills Council People 1st, we reviewed the National Occupational Standards, working in consultation with both business and education representatives to ensure national occupational standards were fit for purpose, to create awareness of the importance of raising skill levels for economic benefit. The standards were approved early in 2014.Next steps will be to develop appropriate qualifications for professional recognition, to create continuing professional development, course accreditation and an international information resource.The Institute of Event Management will be open for membership in 2014.
