Freelance writer/editor
-
Jan 1986 - Present
I edit nonfiction book manuscipts for clients such as Chilton, John Wiley and Sons, New American Library, North Light Books, Ohio Psychology Press, and Writer’s Digest Books. I also assist clients in self-publishing their work, most recently Tami Boehmer's From Incurable to Incredible:Cancer Survivors Who Beat the Odds. Past clients have included the Village of Amerberly, the Literary Club of Cincinnati, and Luke Chan.I've authored five nonfiction books and numerous articles; I have also written video scripts for clients such as Chatfield College, Cincinnati Bell, Procter & Gamble, Senco Products, SuperX, Southwestern Publishing, and United Way.I can handle problem projects: cutting the 100,000 word manuscript down the contracted 50,000 words; coaxing the author who's written nothing but the first five chapters of her book to finish the additional fifteen chapters; finding and obtaining permission to use illustrations from already published books when the artwork supplied by the author was unusable.Books I've written: Great Gifts You Can Make in Minutes (North Light Books), Very Small Living Spaces (Henry Holt), The Heartland Companion (Mallard Books), Storage (HP Books), and Wicker, Cane, and Willow (Grove Weidenfeld).
