    As the head of Engineering at COPIA, I am responsible for: • Providing day-to-day leadership of the technology team: hiring, setting and tracking objectives, obtaining resources, overseeing task completion; and reporting progress, accomplishments and hurdles to the management and board COPIA.• Manage financial and operational performance of the technology department against targets.• Partner with the product development lead (product specialist) to define the product vision (including the product roadmap) and own the product development lifecycle, working with and motivating cross-functional teams in a lean start-up environment.• Define and own the technology strategy, road map and priorities.• Ensure development team meets all requirements for programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance and support of systems application software in adherence with organizations standards, processes and best practices.• Partner with the product development lead (product specialist), strategic partnerships and marketing leads on market needs, feature prioritization, and identification of product enhancements.• Constantly look for opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.

    As Head of Development, I have been mandated to plan for and manage change, in the dynamic ICT sector to benefit Craft Silicon and its’ clients. This entails recruiting, training, managing and supervising 30+ developers. In addition to my key role of managing the development team, I do play a pivotal role in R&D, Product Management as well as launching products into market. Am also the lead systems architect for the alternate channels, mobile banking and core banking products. Further to this, am a hands-on developer, trainer and mentor for the developers in various teams. A major responsibility/challenge the position presents, is fostering an environment in which developers, quality assurance and implementation engineers work coherently while developing, testing and deploying quality products.Selected Achievements:  Instituted test driven development into the development culture of the organization a move that has led to tremendous savings and great improvements in products stability.  Changed the development methodology of the organization from a water fall approach to agile development based on the scrum model. Attained the lowest level of staff turnover in any department within Craft Silicon over my tenure as the Head of Development.  Developed a reputation as a competent, trusted, committed and reliable resource among clients and peers.  Implemented a project management system that transformed the support function of the organization.

    As Deputy Head of Development, I was tasked with managing the transition from developing using VB6 to C#. This was especially difficult considering the huge learning curve the whole development team faced. Despite the initial resistance to change, the whole team was trained in the new technologies required to develop web-based applications. Despite the challenging nature of my new position, I remained a hands-on developer. I played a key role in the establishment of an R&D department that has proved to be very resourceful. Selected Achievements: Developed coding standards for the organization that have stood the test of time.Transformed the development processes and procedures at Craft Silicon, making the development team one of the best in the region and in the process contributing into making Craft Silicon the biggest indigenous software house in East and Central Africa.Introduced training programs that enhanced employee performance and helped build a motivated workforce.Managed the development process that resulted in a new Core Banking / Micro Finance Solution (Bankers Realm.Net).

    As Development Team Lead, I was charged with developing a new solution to serve the Micro Finance Clients of Craft Silicon. I was in charge of 12 developers as 4 quality assurance staff members.Selected Achievements:Managed the development efforts of a New Version of the Micro Finance Solution (Bankers Realm MFO Ver 2.4). In a very trying time, I managed to have the lowest staff turnover rate within the organization. Introduced new development practices and coding standards that greatly improved the stability of the MFI solution.Managed the implementation of more than 10 organizations over and above my daily tasks of development team lead.

    Joined as a Junior Software Developer with the Micro Finance team which is responsible for the development of Bankers Realm MFO. Among the major responsibilities of the job were system requirements gathering, system design, software development and training.Selected Achievements:Designed a New MFI solution (Bankers Realm MFO Ver 2.4). Developed and Implemented solutions in more than 10 sites before being promoted to the position of Software Development Team Lead.Together with others, we developed new coding standards and operational procedures.

Implemented the MFI solution in more than 5 sites before being promoted to the position of Senior Software Developer. Developed support and operational procedures that are still used to date.
