Enrolled in a extracurricular 10-day paleontology course which covered topics ranging from biology, geology, and ecology to taphonomy, and stratigraphy, and cladistics. Equal attention was paid to the scientific and legal process involved in paleontological work. This included: the use of consolidants, adhesives, and plaster jackets in fossil preservation,the relationship a paleontologist has with a dig site's landowner as well as the fossils' end user. Separate attention was paid to proper methods of recording field notes in great detail while project coursework included excavation of both a dinosaur egg site from the Two Medicine Formation exposed in near Bynum, and fossilized vertebrae of a duck-billed dinosaur (Edmontosaurus) from the Hell Creek Formation exposed near Malta.
