    As with most freelancers, at times you need to work outside the field. For me that comes easy as I'm really passionate about also working in the Event Hospitality sector. One of my favourite of these jobs has been working with Off To Work, a hospitality-staffing agency of amazing high standers and calibre. Working event hospitality is refreshingly different and meeting the challenge each event throws at you is really rewarding. It requires me to take on a variety of front of house roles, depending on the requirements of the client and event. Primarily working as a Senior Event Bartender and Team Leader has seen me taking charge and supervising front of house staff during events and liaising directly with clients. The first goal is always to maintain high levels of service standards and guest satisfaction. To ensure this was always achieved meant being attentive to detail and flexible to deal with ever changing situations. I am proud I was able to meet the high levels of service expected for VIP guests.The highlight of working with Off To Work was being given the role of supervising the Royal Box at both the Windsor and London International Horse Show. This meant managing the box staff to provide the Royal Family and their guests with a superb level of service.

    This was a newly created role within Auckland University of Technology's Department of Journalism. My main responsibilities were in managing the departments newly created TV News Studio, which consisted of a single remote controlled camera, full studio lighting and microphones, and a master control room with vision mixer, camera control, VT, IP Video Source systems, and recording systems. Being a new studio initially my duties were focused around testing the studios performance capabilities and creating operating protocols for staff and students. I also took on the responsibility for implementing improvements to the studio so it could be used more effectively as a learning tool. Other duties included supervising staff and students during studio classes, attending editing workshops to give technical assistance, and managing the departments media assets for online publication and archiving. One of my biggest achievements while working as the studio technician was overseeing the installation of a new IP based outside broadcast system that allowed any camera with an internet connection to be directly patched into the studio. This project was very technically challenging, requiring a lot of troubleshooting and a high level of collaborating with software reps and the Universities IT and Network team. Once up and running the system proved an invaluable tool for students to practice on-air interviewing. - Managing and creating content for the Journalism Department’s online portals- Operation and management of AUT University’s Convergent Media Centre, including equipment testing, maintenance and operation.- Directing the operation of the studio during classes, (directing multi-cameras/talent, remote control camera operation, studio lighting, operating VT, vision mixing, sound mixing, and any incoming live ob video links).- Developing and improving studio/media systems and workflows by maintaining software efficiency.

    I ran the master control room as a Technical Producer for the radio station AM770 CHQR. This involved running the master sound board and the technical elements of broadcasting all on-air content.
