I worked a number of full-time positions, mostly at the Medical University of South Carolina. I also did programming, debugging, database management, systems network management and installations. I even worked the Charleston Docks as a stevedore, recording details about cargo as it was loaded and unloaded.

I worked on the PRN for Dr. Lawrence B. Afrin, in the Department of Hematology and Oncology. Mainly, I set up cancer treatment protocols on a secured website for MUSC physicians to use to access up-to-date information to use to help their patients. I updated and corrected the protocols as necessary, and ran the system backups. I also helped with off-site installations and managed access to the PRN by customer doctors.

ADL was the managing company for the SCRA Consortium during this time. We were working on developing a "just-in-time" manufacturing system for the military. I was one of the IT team, and helped with the Software Lifecycle Management, the preparation of contracts and monthly reports to the military and the other members of the consortium. I helped ADL employees with hardware and software problems, security access to the system, and installation and maintenance of computer systems.

I taught in the community college at night. My classes were: Intro to Computers; Spreadsheets; Word Processing; and Intro to Databases. The student I was the most proud of was one who was terrified of even touching a computer, in case she blew it up. I had her successfully writing programs in 2 weeks! I had to prepare the course schedule, course content, lesson plans, and tests.
