Duties consist of providing administrative assistance and support to the Program Managers, Senior Analyst, and other members of the Automated GI Bill Benefits Initiative as well as members of the Enterprise Program Management Offices (EPMO). The Automated GI Bill Benefits Initiative program is one of the 16 transformed major initiatives as is responsible for development and deployment of the post 9/11 (Chapter 33) GI Bill. The objective of this bill is to utilize information and technology to provide timely education claims processing, payment and customer service while minimizing the claims work for field employees. The main role I play as the Staff Assistant is I work daily with the Asset Management team to assist Veterans Affairs Employee’s and Contractors obtain Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). This may consist of a Government laptop, Desktop and/or Mobile Device. I also assist Contractors and Employees with returning Government Furnished Equipment when their contract has expired or when they leave the organization or decide to retired. I have experience processing documents for new employees and contractors requesting a government security clearance; which entails background investigation, LAN/Network Access and issuance of badge. The issuance of a badge requires me inputting/sponsoring the employee or contractors PIV/Badge request in the PIV System. Coordinating the arrangements of meetings and conference calls; and following up with meeting participants, clients and staff to ensure agreements and commitments have been completed. Assisting with the ordering and monitoring of office supplies and furniture. Provides assistance in coordinating telephonic and video meetings/conferences. When required, assist in performing timekeeping duties in an accurate and timely manner for all personnel. Performs additional task including typing, filing and general management of the office.
