a) ECD Duties:I supported and played an oversight role in 20 countries:• Co-coordinating technical assistance to support more equitable access to quality ECD, especially for the most vulnerable girls and boys to enhance their readiness for school through:- Finalization of regional parental education manual• Facilitating and participating in meetings and seminars related to advocacy and capacity development in ECD of various levels of ECD professionals including program staff, government officers, academicians and researchers, using the ECD resource pack• Undertaking field visits to monitor initiatives to enhance access, quality and equity in ECD, identifying necessary actions for programme adjustment and providing technical advice with an emphasis on mainstreaming ECD into sectoral programs and plans.• Writing ECD regional programme status reports required by management, donors, budget review, programme analysis, annual reports, etc.• Developed a holistic regional strategy for ECD in collaboration with other sections in the UNICEF regional office (Health, WASH, Child Protection and Communication) is ongoing and the draft is available.b) Girls' education and UN Girls' education initiative (UNGEI) Duties:• Strengthen partnerships with UN agencies and other organizations working in the field of Girls’ Education, in particular UNESCO, WFP and UNCHR and other UNGEI partners.• Member of the UNGEI Global Advisory committee • Supervise CFS/Schools for Africa Programme • Promoting documentation of lessons learned and good practices in the implementation of UNGEI at both country and regional levels.• Conduct gender audits and promote the concept and relevance of gender responsive budgeting in education.• Support the regional Priority including the excluded: Advocacy, technical assistance, capacity building, monitoring and research effort. Strategizing and planning for inclusion of the excluded 11.3m children in the region.
