Assistant IT and Performing Arts Technician
-
Aug 2019 - Aug 2020
After my first year studying at the Sixth Form where I was also volunteering, I was offered a part-time paid role there, doing most of the same roles as the previous year, however, I was also then marked as a member of staff, so I was allowed to help further with our systems.I designed a few pages for our student Intranet, and supported staff in using this too.

After being offered and accepting a full-time job offer from Shoreham Academy, the school under the United Learning Trust, my role at Kidz Klub Brighton and Hove had to change too. From being in the office one day a week, assisting with administrative tasks and taking on small administrative projects, to continue to do as much as I can to help with my knowledge, in the times I am not working, this can be helping with our database of supporters, children who attend our sessions, and their parent's details.I also have helped with the network upkeep of our new offices, and am confident in maintaining and supporting with it. I administer and maintain, along with another volunteer, the companies GSuite and Azure Active Directory Domains, and support in the creation, administration, and managing of users, keeping in mind security best-practices. We use Sharepoint Sites to store and grant user access to company files, on a need-to-know basis. Ensuring company data is kept secure, and is following our data protection policies.

Intern
-
Jul 2018 - Sep 2020
In July of 2018, after being a volunteer, and providing specialist technical input to Kidz Klub Brighton and Hove for roughly 4 years, I volunteered to be the successor of the charities first-ever Intern. This was in addition to completing my A-Levels at Shoreham Academy Sixth FormIn this job role, I was tasked with basic administrative tasks, where I was situated in our offices, for one day a week. I was printing work-sheets, to be sent out to the charities 5 local clubs, which ran on different days of the week. I compiled lists of our supporters, with their communication preferences, and contact details, for our supports newsletter; as well as of children, based on their location, the club they attended, their age, or another characteristic on our database system. As my role progressed to meet my strengths, I started doing more technical, or creative based tasks, like creating visuals such as graphics, or short videos. I also spent some time assisting other office staff with day-to-day technical issues, such as laptop crashes or failures, printer issues, and network and internet improvments, such as a new access point, which greater met the needs of the office staff.

During my time at Marks and Spencer, I have developed critical skills, which I will keep for the rest of my life, including high-level customer assistance, dealing with customers 1-to-1, correcting issues, and teamwork, as well as also being a leader. In the April of 2020, at the brink of the Covid-19 pandemic, my role changed massively, I was no longer working in the Cafe, which was my role, and skill-set since starting there. All hospitality staff were required to relocate to other areas of the store, in my case, I was then moved to our Food-hall, this was quite challenging for me because there were lots of people I didn't know and was being directed by Managers whom I had never really met. I was doing a role where I was expected by customers to know answers to questions, when I hadn't been fully trained in that role, at first it was a very stressful experience. Thankfully I learn quickly and got to grips with the role and its demands. Very soon after, I was using the tills, which were different from those in the hospitality area, and also assisting customers at the Food Information Desk, dealing once again with 1-to-1 customer service, in a role I had only been doing a few weeks. After this short learning period, I was then managing our SCOT tills (Self Check Out Tills), and managing colleagues on the Tills too, answering any store, product or till queries from colleagues and customers. As of January of 2021, the Cafe has been re-opened for take-away coffees, because of this, we no longer need a big team, I was one of 4 colleagues kept to manage the coffee shop over this time, and was working in there on my own, delivering great service, great coffee, and a great experience for the customer. From December 31st 2022, my time at Marks and Spencer had come to end - with mixed feelings, I was struggling with keeping up with the volunteering, and working at Shoreham Academy. I decided that my time had come after taking a four-month career break to re-evaluate.
