Graphic Design Manager - Childrenswear
-
May 2007 - May 2009
As Design Manager my role is primarily a creative and managerial one. I manage a team of 4, comprising 2 graphic designers and 2 stills art directors. On a creative level I was responsible for the design and layout off all Mini Boden printed catalogues and the generation of concepts both print and online in an effort to keep the Mini Boden brand fresh and relevant. In executing these ideas I was then involved in outfitting meetings and in briefing teams of art directors and graphic designers. On a day to day level I was constantly co-ordinating, negotiating, and often mediating with other teams: art working, online, marketing and photographic shoot teams. I also developed a close working relationship with merchandisers and range designers. On a more strategic level I attended monthly strategic meetings involving Marketing Director, Design Director and other heads of departments and also attended US focus groups in NY (the US market contributes more than 50% of all Mini Boden sales) and in so doing kept abreast of the US market and our US competitors.
