    In my role as Project Coordinator in the Department of Training, Research & Innovation I have the opportunity to oversee a variety of training and research initiatives aimed at bolstering local surgical capacity in developing nations. Some of my duties include:• Accompanying teams on international missions to implement research and training projects • Representing Mending Kids at regional and international global health and global surgery events • Maintaining a central data registry of over 3,000 pediatric patient case files• Leading a team of 5 college-level interns and training them in relevant research methods• Developing and testing a novel remote surgical training paradigm using Google Glass• Conducting internal data analysis in order to generate quarterly and annual impact reports

    I was part of the first cohort of interns hired to support Mending Kids' Department of Training, Research & Innovation in its inaugural year. I worked on a number of research initiatives for the organization, with most of my work focusing on to surgical care delivery and capacity-building in East Africa (Mozambique). What I Did: • Prepared and managed IRB/ethics committee applications for human-subject research• Led a team to develop a novel impact assessment framework for Mending Kids • Analyzed data on organizational output in 2016; accumulated data in 2016 Annual Report • Prepared comprehensive country profile reports for prospective mission sites • Used statistical methods to calculate DALYs Averted for children served by surgical missions• Developed qualitative assessment tools to support department research and training programs
