My responsibilities were but not limited to the following:Creating the SIU for GE based upon all of the individual United States' compliance requirements.Developing the SIU and training all of the claim examiners as to what might be considered a "red flag" or other situations that would warrant the claim being referred to the SIU.I was responsible for completing all of the compliance reports for each state showing how our company was complying with their regulations.I was responsible for reviewing all of the claims files that were referred to the SIU to determine if they should possibly be investigated or referred back to the claim department.Once a claim was deemed an SIU case, I reviewed the file in great detail, spoke with our medical team, legal team and upper management as needed.Prior to taking it to the above mentioned levels, I took great pride in reviewing a case completely, knowing everything I could about the case prior to contacting the insured. I would contact the insured, speak with them about their claim(s), set up medical exams, surveillance or in person interviews as deemed necessary.I worked closely with the local police involved with the claim, the FBI, the NICB, and our company legal team once a claim was determined to be fraudulent. I worked extremely hard at keeping our claim examiners up to date on the "hot scams", I was always available to the claim examiners for discussions and I took great pride in providing our examiners with outside guests from the FBI, the Philadelphia Medical Examiner, the IASIU, and other organizations that had very valuable information that made our teams the best we could be.
