    After my baby was born in July 2003, I needed a new challenge. While still going on with my printing business, I bought a beauty salon. It was a totally new experience & challenge. Although I did not do treatments myself, I got a lot of experience in the running of a business with staff working for you. My duties included payroll, staff issues, stock purchasing, marketing & promotions, handling client issues, meeting reps and deciding on the best products and services to buy, bookkeeping and the general management of the salon.In November 2005, I enrolled at the International Academy of Beauty to qualify myself to work in my own salon. In 2006 – 2007 I completed the rest of the course part-time at Corpo Sano. After that I did treatments myself in the salon as well.

Projects included business cards, flyers, letterheads, menus, etc. To operate successfully, I also did most of the design.I enrolled at UNISA in 2003, to do my Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology. I did two subjects – Research Methodology (80%, 72% & 93% for my assignments through the year) & Industrial Psychological Evaluation (65%, 74% & 76% for my assignments through the year). I did not write the final exam, because I had a baby in July and bought my own business in October.

The Receiver sent out people to come and investigate our findings and I helped them as well to get information out of the system, by writing Easy Queries. A company called ZADER did the investigation of their billing and they sometimes required my help to extract information out of the system to help them with their investigation.

    IBM (Mainframe, PC), CICS, Windows 95, COBOL, DB2, and XDB, Micro Focus Workbench.Using business analyst specifications to design and develop on-line CICS transactions and batch programs for a large pharmaceutical company's stock management system.On receiving the specifications we had to design a program structure detailing screen layout, data validation, data manipulation and error handling. After the technical construction and coding, a test plan and test data had to be created. Testing included unit testing as well as regression testing between the various related transactions before final delivery.Development was done on a Micro Focus Workbench using XDB as the database. This speeded up development and made it easy to create multi-development and test environments. Only after testing, was the code transferred to the mainframe for the final stage of testing.Reason for leaving: Relocated to Edinburgh, UK.
