As part of a final project for my degree, I was teamed up with five other classmates and asked to create a non-profit event for local organization VIDEA. We had just over two months to create the event and a budget starting at $80. My team and I decided to host a fashion show called Couture for a Cause, where we would showcase four local designers and multiple local models, using local hair sponsorship and makeup sponsorship as well as including a silent auction.- We sold over 200 tickets through word of mouth, Facebook ads and organic Facebook shares- We raised over $6000 to donate directly to the organization, which allowed us to support 12 individual youth to attend the Zambia Rural Youth Conference in Lusaka in August 2018- We raised the most funds that have ever been raised over the past 4 years of this class being held- We were recognized by YAM magazine, Victoria Buzz- Supported by Bayview Place Properties, Maxxam Insurance, Four Frames Photo Booth, Elate Cosmetics, Shampoo Hair Bar, Dellis Made, Sarah Runnalls Collection, Oxford clothing, Nude Swim Bar, Pachulah jewelry, Victoria Luxury Flowers and Paper Decor, VIDEA, Camosun CollegeOverall the event was a huge success with all stakeholders being very satisfied with the end result.
