    Using the successful aspects of the Garden Cafe concept, Beacon Hills – Catering, Banquets, Grill & Bar was opened at the Country Inn & Suites, in Lincoln, NE.With Anne at the helm, Craig has managed the kitchen staff as Chef and “idea man”.Anne attributes the longevity and success to the retention of core staff. The Marketing & General Manager has been with them since the Garden Café. Several of the kitchen staff have worked with them for 15 to 20 years. There are also dining room staff that have been with them for over 5 years, an unusual occurrence in the high turn over food service business.

    In 1989, Anne, along with her husband, Craig, began a career with an Omaha favorite at the time, The Garden Café. Within six months, she was managing her first location. After three months of proving her talent, she moved up to General Manager, and soon became the trainer for general managers for the company’s five other Omaha locations.By the end of the first year, the couple bought into the franchise, she becoming an Operating Partner. Taking the Garden Café concept to Lincoln, Nebraska, they open the first location at 70th & A streets. As the chain began to flounder in Omaha, the Lincoln location flourished under the McVeigh’s leadership.With the corporate decision to sell the business, the McVeighs decided to leave the chain due to philosophical differences with the new owner. At the time of their departure, the Lincoln location was still open and profitable.

    While pursuing a degree in English and History from Creighton University, Anne paid her way though school by working at a variety of Omaha area bars and restaurants; from fine dining establishments to a live music tavern.After obtaining her degree, she worked at Omaha television station KPTM in Advertising Sales, until she moved on to her next position.
