Experience

    • Instructional Assistant
      • Sep 2015 - Oct 2023
      • Andover, MA

When our children entered Middle School I wanted to work the same schedule as they had. My parents were getting along in age and needed some assistance. I wanted a position that would meet those needs and challenges. After doing my research, I applied for and was hired as a Substitute Teacher in the Andover, MA School System. In the Spring of 2015, I was asked to substitute for a Special Education Teacher whose focus was on Math. After the 1st week on the job, I was asked to return the next week. The school administration asked me to remain in the position until the end of that school year. In August of that year, they had an open position. I applied for the job and was offered a position. My primary responsibility is to assist the teacher in the classroom with a student or group of students that may need extra help. I assist the kids in learning, in the style that best suits their learning (i.e. visual, auditory etc). I enjoy working with the students and teachers.

Priority Call was a Telecommunication Services Provider. In the Quality Assurance department I Collaborated with Manufacturing and Customer Service to develop a set-up plan (this reduced product install times by up to 55%). I worked closely with R&D to duplicate and resolve real time customer problems. Developed test plans on new products. Took on the challenge of learning UNIX and its scripting language. These products were new and innovative. It was run by a dynamic individual whose vision was amazing. I learned so much.

Cabletron was a manufacture of communications equipment, geared mostly towards LAN.I managed the Integration Test Area. We tested all new software release on our products as well as the competitors products. I created and executed a myriad of testing scenarios for all new IPX software releases across our full product platform and others. Researched and ordered all new acquisitions and existing equipment. I was also a member of the technical team who reviewed potential major account application requirements and participated in the set-up, demonstration and customization of thoseapplications.

    • Sr. Marketing Consultant
      • Jul 1979 - Oct 1992
      • Lowell, MA

My time at Wang was full of hard work and great memories. I started out at the company in a Human Resource Role, primarily recruiting for Research and Development at all level. Eventually, adding Marketing to my recruitment responsibilities. I was able to get to know many of the new products and what they were designed to do. I wanted to learn more about the products. I transferred into marketing and started learning the benefits of the product lines. My curiosity for learning made me want to delve into the more of the technical side of product. I also began attending night school to obtain a Computer Science Degree. I was primarily presenting and demonstrating software and hardware products to some small, medium and very large audiences. I began to learn more of the products from the technical side as well. I began to teach customers how to use their new systems. The cost of educating customers began to grow, so more focus was put on the development of the Marketing Programs to advertise the education services. I was able to design and develop the marketing collateral used to advertise these products. I gained even more experience presenting these services to customers. A sales force was put into place to sell the education services. I accepted one of those sales jobs. I was definitely out of my comfort zone. I am not a sales type person, but found the sales experience was invaluable in developing my sense and knowledge of how companies invest in their employees. I was able to attain my sales goals for the years I was in the position. I then moved into an position where I learned to realize my ability to work with high level customers and then take those issues and concerns to the Research and Development Directors. I enjoyed learning more of the technical side of product.
