The office opened in January 2013 on request of the EU to the Albanian government. As Gender Equality focal point: • Support the office in fulfilling its responsibilities for the achievement of gender equality and the implementation of the Gender Plan of Action;• Inform and assist Senior Management in monitoring efforts to achieve gender equality, keeping abreast of opportunities to improve the status of women and enhance gender equality, and assist in relevant development of policies and programmes;• Encourage colleagues to apply gender specific mechanisms for gender mainstreaming, such as gender assessments, gender specific indicators, gender budgeting;• Act as a catalyst in the Sector and take steps to strengthen the capacity on gender environment of my colleagues, e.g. by organizing training sessions;• Network with external centers of expertise on gender and environment (including international agencies, national institutes and NGOs), relevant for the Sector;• Work closely with the gender focal points from the various municipalities;As Domestic Violence focal point:• Coordinates and direct the work of the Interdisciplinary Technical Team (ITN), as well as provides resources or refers cases for further specialized services, such as free housing, counseling, and legal services, psychological support as the case may be.• Assist and inform the victims/survivors of domestic violence on their rights and on the follow-up of the necessary procedures for obtaining a legal protection order/immediate protection order, as well as draft the individual security and intervention plan for each case;• Assist the State Police in the process of risk assessment according to the inter-ministerial instructions for risk assessment procedures and the issuance of the Order for Precautions for Immediate Protection;• Create a file with detailed data and relevant documentation for each victim of domestic violence and update this file continuously during case management.
