As the Logistics Manager at Tata Zambia distribution vertical, I am in charge of all logistical processes in the organisation. There are four businesses in the organisation that requires importation and exports, ie; Tata Motor Vehicle department, Tata Motor Vehicle spare parts division, Health Care Division (HCD) and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) division.1. My role was to ensure the smooth movement of motor vehicles and container trucks ferrying spare parts and health care products into and out of Zambia. 2. My team consists of two Logistics specialists who are responsible for the constant maintenance and update of the bonded warehouses, motor vehicle stock control, maintenance of transit insurances and registrations.3. My team also consisted of two clearing agents (Customised Clearing & Forwarding, CCF) and (Cargo Management & Logistics, CML) who were responsible for the clearance of spare parts and motor vehicles respectively. 4. My role was to ensure the whole logistics process from the Motor Hub in Tanzania up to Tata Zambia was managed efficiently. 5. I implemented a process of maintaining an effective lead time to ensure complete client satisfaction. 6. The usage of the new ERP system (Incadea) ensured that all of these tasks were completed effectively and also maintained an accurate data record compared to the old and traditional microsoft excel and AccPac system.7. I helped motivate my team to perform more efficiently by providing various incentives. This in turn motivated them to be more initiative and bring up as well as implement ideas of their own to improve the department.8. On a self achievement factor, I did an assessment, evaluation and final report on Tata Motors (Motor Hub) in Tanzania. Motor Hub is the center of all distribution of Tata vehicles in and around Tanzania. My task was to assess and rectify all faults, improve on lead times and ensure maximum efficiency of the staff.
