I am volunteering as a pro bono attorney. Legal Aid employs more than 80 staff attorneys. Yet, due to lack of resources, every year Legal Aid is forced to turn away 60% of people who call for help and are qualified for its free civil legal services. To help more people, Legal Aid trains volunteer attorneys to handle client matters at legal clinics or in courtroom settings.

Development Consultant, The Fund for Legal Aid/Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid
-
Oct 2018 - May 2019
I have moved into a consultant role to help my successor develop relationships with donors and make justice possible for more than 10,000 families and individuals annually. Families face the loss of their homes. Children need to escape abuse and exploitation. Seniors are deprived of proper care. Every day, ordinary Minnesotans confront crises like these. Legal Aid's attorneys give them a voice, keeping them independent, housed, and safe. Together, we make justice possible for our neighbors who face barriers to fair treatment. Thank you for making justice possible!

Be a hero for justice! Imagine a community where everyone has fair access to their basic rights. Imagine a world where it's possible to make a call and get help.My role is to build relationships with donors to achieve the mission of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. Legal Aid provides free civil legal aid to people with low-incomes and seniors in a 20-county service area and to people with disabilities statewide. By supporting Legal Aid, our donors keep people independent, housed and safe. Yet, due to lack of resources, Legal Aid is forced to turn away 60% of eligible clients who call for help. Thanks to our donors, The Fund for Legal Aid provides more than $1.3 million to Legal Aid annually through the One Hour of Sharing annual campaign and the Law Day Dinner. Our donors in the St. Cloud area supplement this effort through the annual St. Cloud Access to Justice Luncheon.Legal Aid is the 12th largest law firm in the state based on number of lawyers on staff. Last year, Legal Aid's lawyers and advocates helped change lives for more than 10,600 families and individuals. Legal Aid helps many more Minnesotans by advocating for people with low income at the legislature and state agencies (Legal Services Advocacy Project) and by providing poverty law trainings to legal services and pro bono lawyers and technology-based legal resources for the public (Legal Services State Support). Please join me in making justice a reality in our community. Learn about how we help solve problems together and make a gift at mylegalaid.org. Thank you for being a hero for justice!
