Part of a major gifts team that raised over $4 million annually from individual donors to support hunger relief efforts in San Francisco and Marin. I managed a portfolio of 170+ major donors that yielded close to $1,000,000 in fiscal year 1415. I also grew the portfolio by 33% from the previous year. Strategies included: direct mail, proposals, events, and personal solicitation. I partnered with the leadership team to design and execute the solicitation strategy to raise over $650,000 in corporate and individual sponsorship for the food bank’s annual gala. I spearheaded efforts to institutionalize and grow the food bank’s planned giving program. I managed a major gifts coordinator responsible for gift processing and administrative duties.

Director of Development and Partnerships

May 2011 - Aug 2014
As a Director of Development & Partnerships, I partnered with the Founder/CEO, staff and board to raise over $500,000 for The Representation Project. Strategies included: major gifts solicitation, events, grant writing, direct mail, online appeals, monthly donor program. I also collaborated with Jennifer Siebel Newsom and her film team to raise $900,000 in funding for production of The Mask You Live In and The Great American Lie. Strategies included: producer solicitation, events, grant writing, Kickstarter campaign. I launched and grew The Representation Project’s Founder’s Circle, a group of 15 donors who contribute $25,000 or more annually over five years to support general operating expenses. I collaborated with consultants and Ms. Newsom on the branding and communications strategy for the broadcast premiere of Miss Representation and the launch of MissRepresentation.org. 1.4 million people watched the 2011 premiere of Miss Representation on the OWN network. By early 2012 the organization reached over 100,000 people with its messages through online platforms. In 2014, the organization reached 3.5M people weekly. Additionally, I designed and executed the Town Hall strategy for Miss Representation, convening 500 business and political leaders, educators, parents and youth to co-create strategies for building healthier communities. Cities: Boston MA, San Francisco, CA, Newark, NJ and Raleigh, NC. I cultivated, secured and stewarded national partners for The Representation Project. Partners included: White House Council on Women and Girls, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Step Up Women’s Network, Women’s Media Center, and Common Sense Media
