    Day to day duties include customer service and general housekeeping - keeping the shop neat and tidy. Duties for an early morning shift on shop opening include bringing in new newspapers and removing the old ones, checking for any holds on papers or magazines and putting them aside, general housekeeping of the register area, making sure there are enough supplies (bags, paper, pens, cleaning etc) at the register, checking the bakery goods and removing the old or damaged stock as well as serving any early morning customers. Daytime duties vary from housekeeping to stocking, pending deliveries.Nighttime or closing duties are mostly housekeeping - tidying the shop, returning trolleys from outside and cleaning the floor (or register area) ready for the next day as well as putting the fruit and vegetables that need refrigeration away in the walk-in store fridge. Recently I have been in charge of the freezer section: stocking and ordering. I also have been training my co-workers on the updated computer system after receiving my own training. This includes both new and veteran co-workers.

    As weighbridge operator I was mostly unsupervised once training was finished. Work mostly included data entry of the weight on the trucks incoming and outgoing with interaction with the drivers. Other duties included keeping the weighbridge hut clean and tidy as well as sweeping spilled grain off of the weighbridge. Occasionally I helped prepare a new bunker for use or tarp a full one.

    Work mostly included keeping various historical sites tidy inside and out and reporting any repair jobs outside my ability to the relevant members. This also ended up with me occasionally being an impromptu tour guide as visitors would ask questions about the area and for directions to various sites. In addition to this I was responsible for buying groceries for the Bed and Breakfast at the Bon Accord Cottage for incoming guests and making sure the cottage was presentable. This included dusting inside and sweeping the verandahs if it had been empty for a while.Apart from training the work was unsupervised.
