Jul 2017 - Jun 2019
My role is to provide legal administration assistance to the Health Litigation team. My duties include providing administrative support to 14 Fee Earning staff, assisting in the organisation of medical records and other documents relating to a claim. I assist the Fee Earners in the organisation and time management of their files ensuring deadlines are met. Liaise with instructed experts and provide updates to the Clients as scheduled. I have trained new LAA recruits to our team to a level which has prepared them to be seconded to the Firm’s various Clients. I also complete small chargeable tasks for Fee Earners including the sorting of medical records and preparation of letters to experts. I am a member of the Positivity Team, which implements a strategy between the firms various national locations to boost staff morale and raise awareness of mental health within the workspace. I have recently completed claims management training with the firm and have begun to manage my own limited instruction files. This involves communicating directly with the claims handlers at NHS Resolution and various NHS Trusts’ legal teams. Reviewing claims and instructing appropriate medical experts to comment on breach of duty and causation. Reporting these expert comments back to the Client and suggest an appropriate method to continue/progress the claim and draft Letters of Response. I have been allocated a caseload while continuing my legal admin duties.

My initial role as an Administrative Officer involved data entry and handling. Duties involved assessing over 70 cases daily to ensure they were being processing correctly by the relevant teams or closed accordingly. This required the ability to analyse information from various databases to ensure accurate assessments of each case were made. In my later role on the Voluntary Departures team, I assisted clients facilitate their departure from the UK or to legalise their status. This involved sensitive negotiations to ensure the client departed on their own means to avoid consequential re-entry bans for non-compliance.
