'Are we Safer Now?' applies public health and regulatory theory to chid safe policies in Australian gymnastics to analyse if we are making our sport safer for the next generation. The author tracks the progress of Australian gymnastics policies through the decades, with particular focus on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse. She brings to this thesis the insights of being a child athlete in high-performance gymnastics, knowledge of the socio-cultural pressures that surround policy application, and the experience of being a survivor rallying for positive change to sport.

*Convincing writers to come up to the Sunny Coast for workshops and discussion nights (always helps to mention that we have great beaches and the occasional whale passing by).*Media liaison (thanks to the wonderful support of the local ABC up here) *Venue spotting ( the well practiced line "um...is there any possibility you'd hire that to us for free?")*Developing networks with libraries, and other writing groups (there are 22 other writing groups on the Coast; that must be some kind of national record when analysed as a per-head-of-population figure) *Finding various excuses to dive into book shops ("do you mind if we hang our poster in your shop?...oh yes, that's right...the new Tim Winton book...I might just buy that while I'm here") *Chatting, talking and gabbing on about all things related to books and writing.*Occasional frenetic biscuit baking. *Cheese platters with unevenly cut Cheddar.
